Call it what you will… A New Year’s resolution, a commitment to change, a small sustainable change… It is the season for reflecting inward and thinking about what worked for us in the last 12 months and what things we might like to change for 2015 and beyond. Last year I think I said I would begin doing my own workouts, it hasn’t happened yet… BUT I did begin to golf more seriously this year and walked the course whenever I could. That might have actually been even better than adding on a workout: I chose to do something that my husband loves, that we can do together and that is just for me. What was your commitment to you last year? Was it sustainable? What would you like to do differently this year?

Change is in the air at Paper City Fitness too! I have some very exciting things to update you on and also some bittersweet things as well.
Many of you already know that our beloved Armando will be leaving us in January. While I am heartbroken that Armando is moving to Hong Kong, I am thrilled to pieces for him that he has this incredible opportunity to experience a completely different country and culture. All of us at Paper City Fitness truly wish him nothing but the best as he gets ready for this new adventure!

We are excited to welcome Juliet Cannici to Tuesday night Zumba® Fitness beginning Tuesday, January 6th at 6:30pm. Juliet is a unique, energetic, and funky AFAA certified group fitness instructor. When she teaches Zumba® Fitness classes it is impossible not to experience her passion, love, and dedication to and for the program. She treats every class as an opportunity to motivate and inspire others. Juliet is passionate about fitness and nutrition, and we are THRILLED to welcome her to Paper City Fitness.

Thursday nights at 6:30pm we are excited to offer a brand new class beginning January 15, 2015. Please join us for the debut of Old Skool Jams with Robyn Sutton-Fernandez. Robyn is a long-time student and friend of Paper City Fitness. She will be bringing her own unique style of dance fitness to the easy to follow formulas you know from our other classes. Robyn’s playlist is sure to get you up, moving, shaking and jamming with old school favorites like Michael and Janet Jackson, funk, R & B and current dance jams.

Fridays at 5:30pm we have added a Kickboxing & Kettlebells class with Heather Colon. Heather danced for many years but her true passion is Kickboxing. She will show you easy to follow kickboxing combinations that will help you relieve your stress as you kick and punch your way through the workout. Finishing with kettlebells, this is a true cardio and strength pairing guaranteed to help you reach your goals.

If you have attended Zumba® on Monday night recently, you also know that Amy Piedra, another phenomenal Zumba® instructor has joined our Paper City Fitness team. Amy brings great energy and experience to every single class, every time, making it easy to see why her classes have been so well-received. While it was bittersweet for me to give up my Monday night class, it has allowed me to add a new format on Monday nights: Total Body Suspension Trainer at 6:30pm. This class will run at the same time as Zumba but in our Training Studio. It is limited to 10 people so we do ask that you sign up in advance via www.mindbodyonline.com. This class is a combination of upper body and lower body strength training finished with core and all using our suspension trainers. All movements can be progressed or regressed to meet any fitness level.

Two last exciting pieces of news that truly have me over the moon! First, we are adding early morning classes Monday through Thursday at 5:30am! This has been something that many of you have asked for often over the last 3 years. I am so pleased that we are finally able to offer these classes. I promise, this is an incredible way to start your day. We have added Sculpt on Mondays, Cardio Carve on Tuesdays, Turbo Kick 30 plus bonus weights on Wednesday and PiYo on Thursday. All of the classes are 45 minutes total except Sculpt which is 30 minutes. You can see our entire schedule here! www.papercityfitness.com

On the heels of being so happy to offer you more options for fitness and wellness, I am MOST pleased to announce that we are now offering ALL classes for just $50 per month. We have eliminated the $60 membership and we have made ALL classes just $5 to drop into. There are no membership fees or registration fees. This is part of our commitment to the community to continue to offer the best programming, the best trainers and instructors at a price that is reasonable. If you are interested in signing up for a 6 month membership (paid monthly, not all at once), please email me directly at papercityfitness@gmail.com or stop into the studio any weekday after 5pm and we can set it up for you. If you choose this option, you will receive a complimentary goal setting session and a complimentary one on one training session as our way of saying thank you.

Kate has taught many different types of fitness classes including Pilates, Boot Camps, INSANITY®, Turbo Kick® and Zumba®. Drawing upon this experience has helped  to create a Zumba® class like no other! The idea for Paper City Fitness was born from the realization that many people might never feel comfortable in a traditional gym setting or dance studio. We sought to shatter the perceptions of what fitness looks like and prove that ANYONE can get healthy and happy. You will feel challenged but everyone walks out the door with success! Kate is a graduate of Mount Holyoke College in South Hadley, MA and the mother to three beautiful children, Erin, Molly and Ryan who all love to dance.
