How to stick to your New Year’s Resoultions

2014 Ahead

With 2014 starting it’s time to create that New Year’s Resolutions list. Each year millions of people make New Year’s resolutions, the gym is usually extremely crowded, sales of alcohol and cigarettes drop, and the sales of healthy food increase. However, many of our resolutions are broken before February 1st, if not earlier.  Here are the most common resolutions each year.

  • Lose weight/eat healthier
  • Quit smoking
  • Drink less alcohol
  • Quit caffeine
  • Save money
  • Find a better job
  • Be a happier person
  • Volunteer more
  • Take a trip
  • Manage stress

In order to create resolutions that you can keep, it’s important to be realistic. Set goals that you know you will accomplish and will want to accomplish.  If you know that you hate going to the gym and don’t have the time for it, don’t rush to buy a gym membership. Instead, think of an alternative such as buying home fitness videos or promise to walk at least twenty minutes a day. Also, give your resolutions time. Don’t expect to lose weight in one week. Try not to give up if you don’t have fast results. The best way is to create a list of resolutions then narrow them down to the most realistic and reachable ones. You can also split the resolutions up to one each month.….who says you can’t start a resolution in July? Good luck with your 2014 resolutions and have a Happy New Year!
