10 Tools Every Homeowner Should Have

You don’t have to consider yourself a handy person in order to have tools. In fact, many small repairs, fixes, or upgrades can easily be done with the help of an instruction manual, a video on YouTube, and a couple of good tools. Puppy Proofing Your Home

If you’re thinking of getting a puppy, spring is a great time to do it. You’ve got plenty of warm weather and sunshine to get outside with your new furry friend. Plus, the spring allows for better socialization because they’re more likely to be out and about with other puppy friends. This makes them better behaved in the long run. Puppies are fun, but they’re a lot of work. If you’re not prepared they can wreak havoc on your home. Make sure to puppy-proof everything before you bring them home. How to Spruce Up Your Rental

You rent for all kinds of reasons – you’re not ready to buy, can’t afford to own, or still figuring out what you want to do with your life. Just because you rent doesn’t mean you shouldn’t love where you live. Landlords can be strict about how they’ll let you redecorate, and most won’t allow anything permanent. But you still want to make your home your own, even when it’s a rental. Here are some non-permanent ideas to add your own personal touch to your rental and love the space you’re in. How To Win At Life

There is a lot of talk about how to be successful.  In fact, the self help book is a million, maybe billion dollar industry.  You can get a book, or listen to a podcast, or watch a seminar on anything from “how to make a lot of money” to “how to deal with annoying people.”   If you have a deep question on “how to” do just about anything…I am pretty sure Goggle can help get you instructions. The feedback on success ranges from having money, to being single, to being married to living beneath your...

Not My Things!

Not My Things!

Last night I was scrolling through Facebook at the end of a long day.  This is not uncommon for me, and I tend to find it rather soothing to mindlessly look at the lives and happenings of others.  Well, last night I was hit with an overwhelming theme across my friends.  This theme they were talking about could be due to spring coming up, or lent or a million other things, but it seems they are all talking about giving things up! Now I don’t mean things like T.V. or dessert (even though being without those things is tragic) they are...

Practice Patience

My daughter has always been one to do things at her own pace.  She has never been one to be in a hurry for much.  She got her drivers permit on her 16th birthday in October and, to date, has driven exactly 2 times.  The first time she drove someone almost side swiped us, totally not her fault. She was wide eyed and white knuckled for the rest of the drive.  It took her 4 months to want to drive again. This last weekend she actually wanted to drive to my mother’s house so I said “yes.”  There was one HUGE flaw in this plan. ...

The Beauty of Nothing

The Beauty of Nothing

Every once in a while I have nothing going on.  It is a quiet weekend.  Oh, trust me – there were years where Saturdays meant getting up extra early to go to basketball games or practices.  There were late nights at dance class and youth group.  At times I felt more like a taxi service than a person.  Just pick up and drop off. All that has stopped for the most part now.  My oldest has his license and my youngest is about to get hers.  One has graduated and one is on her way.  The shuffling around and late night laundry has ceased. ...

A New Perspective

A New Perspective

There is a person I know who never seems to have a negative attitude about anything.  Trust me, if anyone could have one and have it be justified it would be this person. Their life hasn’t been easy or fair a lot of the time.  Even through all the hard and trying times her attitude remained positive. In comparison I seem to complain a lot! I never thought of myself as a complainer until a few months ago.  I was sitting with my friend and was going on and on about how I had to go to the grocery store.  She looked at me and said “or...

Carpooling and Your Auto Insurance

Do you carpool on a regular basis? Whether it’s your kid’s soccer team, your turn in the school drop off rotation with other parents, or a cheaper way to get to work, carpooling is popular due to the money everyone saves on gas and its impact on the environment.
