Ross Insurance wants to bring awareness to a local organization that is an asset to our community in so many ways. There are many individuals who are motivated and determined to find a job, however they cannot afford to buy the appropriate clothes for a job interview. The Holyoke Career Closet is collaboration between Holyoke Community College and Providence Ministries for the Needy.

The Holyoke Career Closet is a program created to provide eligible individuals with appropriate clothing for a job interview, internship, externship, work-study, co-op, practicum etc. and therefore increase the likelihood of a successful interview and job placement. The Career Closet has been in existence for three years and they are already serving over 100 local men and women each year. Clients are referred to them from a diverse range of programs including; Holyoke Community College, Mass Rehabilitation, Holyoke Works, Partners for Community and CareerPoint.

The Holyoke Career Closet does more than just provide clothing. They also teach their clients the appropriate skills to getting a job such as career development, resume building, how to write a cover letter and how to interview. They are located on the first floor of the Kittridge Center, room 207 at Holyoke Community College.

In order to keep the Career Closet running they accept two types of donations. Monetary Donations to help keep them staffed and ensure all clients are served. They also accept “In Kind” donations of clean, ready to wear, interview appropriate clothing for men and women.

Ross Insurance will be holding a clothing drive for one week beginning Monday May 19th and ending May 23rd. Drop off interview appropriate clothing during that time here at 150 Westfield Road. Due to space considerations they are only able to accept clothing that is ready for the workplace. Please check clothing for rips, tears, stains, working zippers or buttons etc. prior to donating.
