True Confessions of a Mom: Can You Hand Me My Phone?

“Can you hand me my phone?” Not an uncommon phrase in our household.  Everyone seems to have some sort of hand held electronics on their person or within arm’s reach at all times.   It seems even when we don’t, the pull of the phone can be addicting.  Many times at dinner (where there is a no phone rule) I will hear my text tone chime or the phone ring.  You would think I would ignore it, but it is too tempting.  I need to know immediately who it was, what they need and...

True Confessions of a Mom: Go Eat Something!!

“Go Eat Something!” That is what I usually say when the nagging begins.  It never fails to happen mid-morning, mid-afternoon, dinner and snack time.  The cries of “what is for lunch” and “I’m hungry”.  Almost always, amidst these whines made from boredom, I will tell them to just “go eat something”.  They trudge into the kitchen happily and return with an apple or a cookie and the situation has been averted for at least a little bit. For 9 years he completed our family, as only other pet owners would understand.  He was  cozy and warm and took his spot proudly on our laps, which aided in...

True Confessions of a Mom: Why You Might Have Hospice Care All Wrong.   Hi! Yes, You! The one who clicked this link out of curiosity about Hospice!  Can I ask you a question? If I were to say the word Hospice to you, what would come to mind? Cancer? Someone who is ready to take their last breath? A sorrowful time filled with tears and depression?  Workers telling everyone to be quiet and keeping visitors at bay? I believe, in my own opinion, that Hospice has a gloomy...
