Where Does The Time Go?

Where does the time go? I have been reflecting a lot on my time here in our family business….. 42 years of my life.  My brother Kevin and I are third generation owners of Ross Insurance.  Since 1925 this business has been a part of the Holyoke community, its fabric woven throughout this great city.  My Dad purchased the agency from his Dad, and we purchased the agency from my Dad in 1990.

Working in a family business is a treat not many get to experience. Some folks say it’s difficult, but I must say, we have been very lucky.  Kevin & I, along with our brother Ernie who passed away in 2011, worked very well together.  We all had our responsibilities and rarely stepped on each other’s toes.  Add to that a work ethic that was equally matched and we had a great run together.  There is a saying that all good things must come to an end.  I am happy to say, that is not the whole truth as it relates to this story.

It is with some sadness but mostly excitement that I share with you that we have sold the agency. We are now part of the Webber & Grinnell Insurance organization which is located in Northampton.  We will be a branch office and will remain in Holyoke under the name of Ross, Webber & Grinnell.  I am so happy that the Ross name and family will remain a part of this great city.  I will retain some ownership and will continue to manage this office.  This will be a seamless transition for our clients as all of our staff will remain with the new organization.  You can still reach out to the same people you do now for the same great service you have always received from the staff here.  Kevin is also staying on, but will transition into retirement over the next 18 months.

Keep your eyes out Monday for the unveiling of our new name and logo on social media. Just don’t let the name change fool you …. We are still right here for you and going nowhere!!
